Founded in 1989, the Art Deco Society of Boston (ADSB) is a not-for-profit membership association that seeks to further the understanding, appreciation and preservation of Art Deco and related design styles.

Boston is a preservation-minded city, with great examples of architecture from Colonial, Georgian, Federal, Victorian,  Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Bauhaus, International, Modern, and Contemporary styles and periods.  ADSB focuses its efforts on 20th century architecture through the Modern period, and works in collaboration with other preservation organizations in the city and beyond.

ADSB also belongs to the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS) which is currently comprised of 14 active societies in the United States and 13 others in Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, New Zealand and South Africa.  Every two years ICADS holds a World Congress on Art Deco, a major gathering and forum for the exchange of research, preservation tactics and shared interests.   The May, 2009 Congress was held in Montreal, Canada and the 2011 Congress will be held Rio de Janeiro Brazil in July, 2011 -- watch here for more information.
